Headlines and Homework
Week of December 1- December 5

Welcome to December! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and restful vacation. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who made our Thanksgiving feast here a success. Your children were very nice-looking Pilgrims in their cute hats. If you were not able to attend, the children performed a beautiful sign language song, "Give Thanks". Have them do it for you at home. It is wonderful.

It is always exciting to enter the season of our precious Lord's birth. I am beyond grateful that Jesus Christ, our awesome God, humbled himself and became a man for us, yet never sinned, endured incredible suffering on the cross and triumphed by rising again from the dead - all out of love for you and me. And the fact that He then offers the gift of Himself in our frail human lives is overwhelming. We are truly nothing without him, and can do all things with Him!

This Friday, 12/5, is our field trip to Me 'N' Ed's Pizzeria. Drivers, please meet at the school at 9:25 a.m. The children will be making and eating their own pizzas at the restaurant between 10:30 and 11:00. They may be too full for hot lunch pizza, so use your judgment.

Next Friday, December 12th, from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m. the 2nd-graders will be making simple gingerbread houses. If you would like to bring in ingredients or help, sign-ups are outside the classroom door. If you do not get a chance to see the sign-up sheet but would still like to help, you may go ahead and send in a can of white frosting. We can always use more!

Reminder: Please bring in 22 small stocking stuffers by next Friday, December12th.

Our memory verse this time will extend into next week. Our music teacher, Mrs. Hopkins, has asked the 2nd graders to learn a slightly longer passage for the Christmas program coming up next Tuesday, December 9th. I would still like the students to try to recite it to me this Friday, but some may need this weekend as well to learn it. We will have the same memory verse next week.

Thank you, parents, for the wonderful cinnamon spice fragrance oil. Mrs. Hisayasu and I love it!
Madison Levy is our featured "All About Me" child this week.
Let's take a big breath, and enjoy this beautiful season of celebrating Christ's birth.
