"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

Isaiah 40:8

When it is your child's turn for Star of the Week, each day will consist of a fun event or activity to honor him or her and help to get to know our special classmate a little better.

Monday
The Star Pocket Chart will be sent home the Friday prior to your child's week. You will decorate it using your creativity any way you want. This can include pictures, artwork from when they were a child, perfect spelling test papers, list of their favorites (books, food, memory verse), or anything else that connects with your child. BE CREATIVE! :You will bring the Star Pocket Chart on Monday for it to be on display. All items must be lightweight. Their display will be up throughout the week and items in the Star Pocket Chart will be returned in an envelope on Friday.

Tuesday
Favorite Book:
The star student brings one of his or her favorite short picture books to read (or teacher read) to the class.

Wednesday
Lunch Buddy:
A special someone can join the star student for lunch on this day. You may also choose to invite a sibling or a favorite relative to be your child's lunch buddy. If you are unable to participate on this day, Mrs. Wilson or I can accompany be your child's Lunch Buddy. Please let us know in advance. Days can be swapped in order to accommodate your personal schedule. All guests must check in at the office before entering the lunch area.

Thursday
Show and Tell:
Have your child bring in 1 item that has a lot of meaning to him or her. It can be anything as long as it is safe. The item needs to be brought to the teacher promptly in the morning for safekeeping.

Friday
Parent Letter:
Parents will write a letter to the class telling us how special your child is to you. You can start off with telling the class where the star student was born, what time, how much he/she weighed. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from the following ideas: Describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character.
